Published in 2003, after the 2001 Conference, the four-volume bilingual anthology entitled Women in the Azores and the Immigrant Communities was presented at the International Conference: The Voice and Choice of Women, which took place in September of 2003 at the University of Toronto, Canada, organized by Professors Manuela Marujo and Aida Baptista. Her Excellency Maria Barroso, former First Lady of Portugal, presided at the Opening Session of the Conference. Also present were Alzira Silva, Regional Director for the Immigrant Communities, of the Azorean Government, and Ilda Januário, specialist in cultural anthropology.
