(1977) “Cooking Portuguese” in Food and Nutrition Education Program, US Department of Agriculture, Tulare County, University of California, 21 pages

After completing my bachelor’s degree at UCLA (University of California, Los Angeles) in 1974, and before accepting the invitation, in 1977, to work for the National Materials Development Center, on the East Coast, developing materials for the teaching of Portuguese in the United States, I worked in Visalia for the University of California Extension, in the Tulare County Food and Nutrition Education Program, in cooperation with the US Department of Agriculture. Through this Program, I worked with the community teaching migrant women about food and nutrition, including the basics of Portuguese cuisine. During this time, I developed the pamphlet Cooking Portuguese and introduced the teaching of Portuguese Literature at the local College of the Sequoias.
